Privacy policy
Last updated: 25 October 2026
Travelermap is provided by Travelermap Agency in Saudi Arabia ("we"). This policy explains what data we collect when you use the app, why, and how you control it.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address, the display name you choose, and your password, which is stored encrypted and never visible to us.
- Location: your precise location while you use the app, to show nearby places and their distance and to confirm a visit when you check in. We do not use your location in the background and we do not store your current location in your account; we only store the places you checked in at.
- What you add: places, photos, ratings, reviews and reports. Places, photos and reviews are visible to other users with your display name.
- Your lists and activity: places you saved, liked or visited, your collections, the countries you visited and your Traveler points.
- Your profile (optional): your profile picture, a short phrase about yourself and an Instagram account. They are visible, with your display name, to any member who opens your profile, and members can search for you by display name. You can change or remove them at any time.
- Following: whom you follow and who follows you. The numbers of followers and following show on your profile, and you can hide them in your profile settings.
- Messages, blocks and reports: the text of your private messages with members, the members you blocked, and the reports you send about members or places.
- Photos on your device: we only access the photos you pick to upload.
Messages and moderation
- A first message to a member who does not follow you reaches them as a request, and you cannot write again until they accept it or reply.
- Your messages are stored on our servers and are not end-to-end encrypted. We do not read or review them in general.
- If a member reports a member or a conversation, our authorised moderation team can read the reported conversation (its latest messages) to review the report, and then take an action: dismiss the report, warn the member, or restrict them from messaging and following others.
- We may disclose the content of a conversation to the competent authorities when the law requires it.
- You can block any member, so they cannot see you or write to you, and you can report them.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers.
- We don't show ads or use advertising trackers.
Services that help us run the app
- Supabase: database, sign-in and photo storage, on servers in the European Union (Frankfurt).
- Map and search providers: they receive requests for map tiles and satellite imagery, and the text of place searches, without your account details.
- Wikipedia and Wikidata: the source of information and photos for some well-known places.
- Maps apps: when you tap "Directions", the app opens Apple Maps or Google Maps, whose own privacy policies then apply.
- Instagram: when you tap a member's Instagram icon, the link opens in the Instagram app or your browser, and Instagram's privacy policy then applies.
Retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account exists. You can delete your account yourself in the app: Profile, then "Delete my account". Your account and its private data are deleted immediately, including your profile picture, lists, trails, reviews and conversations (which also disappear for the other person). Or you can email us at support@travelermap.app and we will delete it within 30 days. The places you added and the photos you uploaded to places stay on the map without your name attached.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, its correction or deletion, or object to its processing, under Saudi Arabia's Personal Data Protection Law and, for users in the European Union, the GDPR. Write to support@travelermap.app.
Children
The app is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy in an important way, we will announce it in the app before it takes effect.
